Problem?

I just downloaded a critical update from microsoft. The
malicious software removal tool... anyway when I tried to
run it the microsoft antispyware beta said I needed to
install an active X control... You know... yellow dialog
warning... (service pack 2 user) So I said OK... I know
this is a beta... but if I download a critical update from
microsoft... shouldn't microsoft know it? Just wondering
cause I'm a novice user and I don't understand how spyware
actually works... I'm just a little paranoid too.. I
posted a question a few days ago... didn't get a
response.. seems I get an out of memory error when I run
either the spyware update or the scan... not sure which..
This time I entered my email address. Just a little
explanation would set my mind ease. Thanks in advance for
any advice on this issue...
