It doesn't find any spyware

I'm using the beta. Initially it did find spyware. Now
it finds nothing. I also have CounterSpy. If I run
Counterspy after running the Microsoft Beta Counterspy
always finds spyware to remove. The Microsoft Beta
reports that it is downloading updates. Inferior Product?

Best recommendation then would be to restart in safe mode and do a deep
scan. On the Scan Page choose Scan Options > Full System Scan. Do this at
least two times until detects something. Also, before you restart in safe
mode, disable System Restore, some trojans and spyware programs are likely
to restore themselves with system snap shots:

Right click My Computer > Properties > System Restore, check the "Disable
System Restore" check box and restart in safe mode.

Restart in safe mode instructions:
www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/
windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx

Remember, this is still beta and cannot be judged as a finished shipping
product.

Without knowing what was missed, it is impossible for anyone here to give
specific suggestions.
Cookies are not detected in this version of Microsoft AntiSpyware.

Also no product gets anything.
Everyone I know suggests regularly running 2 or even 3 different products.

So I guess by your definition, they are all inferior.

I wouldn't say that it is an inferior product it seems to
work well enough,When it comes to malware no one product is
enough!
I would be more concerned that "something" is found on
every scan,if what is found is cookies then it is no big
deal but if is something else then you might want to
examine your "surfing/download habits" I have
spywareblaster installed
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
and changed my activex settings and go where I want and do
what I wish and never get any malware on my system well to
date anyway.

The settings listed below of course will not stop malware
that you install with a free program

To help stop unauthorized downloads via your activex
controls change your default settings.
These settings are good for XP. The wording should be close
for other systems
as well.
Go to control panel and open "internet options".
Click on the security tab then custom level.
make sure these settings are as follows.

Download signed active x controls>set to prompt
Download unsigned active x controls>set to disable
Initialize and script active x controls not marked as
safe>set to disable
Run active x controls and pluggins>set to enable
Script active x controls marked safe for scripting>set to
enable
Java permissions>set to high
Launching programs and files in a IFRAME" > Prompt
Installation of Desktop items"> Prompt
Navigate sub-frames across different domains>prompt

It bothered me too. However, I guess this may be the
result it should have. Here is my rationale: I have the
Realtime protection on. With it, any "known" spyware to
MSAS should be blocked automatically. How can you ask
MSAS to find something it has no idea about? As many
technical papers suggest, NO anti spyware software is
100% correct in identifying these threats. I ran
Lavasoft's AD-Aware on the same PC and found 4 new ones.
This is great! Because last time I ran it was more than
a month ago. So, MSAS only permit 5 snick thru it.
