Problem wth FAX feature

Trying to disable Internet connection (LAN) with the
taskbar icon I get following problem:
1. After click "Disable" on taskbar icon, connection is
disabled and I cannot enable it to the next restarting of
Windows.
2. Taskbar connection icon is visible and dead after
disabling the connection.
3. Trying to restart Windows I get message that a program
is stil runing called CNC Notifications . I check many
times after that, but there are no programs I can see.
I've read about CNC Notifications, this is connected with
FAX feature. It seems that FAX trying to scan for incoming
faxes even the Internet connection is alredy down. So I
tried to disable this feature in Control Panel, but all
the same.
Please advice me.

System info
CPU: AMD Athlon 900 MHz
MB: Asus AV7133
SDRAM: 256
Wireless LAN 100 kb/s
Windows 2000 , SP4

Dont think this has anything to do with Fax feature. Uninstallation of Fax
in Windows 2000 is not possible. Remove the modem and Fax service will stop.
If there is no modem in your computer, then Fax service was inactive always
and hence cannot be a problem.
