Hello

I am new to this so please bear with me. I have a
computer that is loaded (it came pre loaded) with Windows
XP Home Edition. I have two children who use the
internet from time to time. When I came back from Xmas
shopping the other night I found that there was a "Guest
Account" added. When I went to shut down the computer I
noticed that there was a different appearence to my shut
down window. I am not well educated in the field of
computers, and I had a few friends look at it, but no one
can explain what was changed to make the shut down sceen
different. The only thing I have found is that one of my
kids friends added a guest user account. Can someone
tell me how I can take the guest user account off, and
return the screen back to the way it was? PLease e-mail
me if you can help,

Thanks for any advice,

Flustered Mom

Hi,

Control Panel/Users, you can disable the Guest Account here. See if that
returns the shutdown screen you were looking for.

Stephanie,

You gotta watch your kids. I know. My nephew makes my Mom crazy the
same way, and I have to help calm her down.

You make changes to logon (shutdown) under User Accounts (Start -
Settings - Control Panel - User Accounts). When in the UA wizard,
select "Change the way users log on or off". The change you are
talking about, I would bet, is "Use the Welcome screen", which may or
may not be selected (I don't know how yours used to be). Change its
setting, and logoff.

The guest account is a default feature in Windows, but you may wish to
delete it or change its password (under User Accounts). Or it may not
be a concern after you change "Use the Welcome screen".

Next, you may wish to setup a unique userid for your kids, with
limited authority. Or spank them (or not). Spanking isn't done these
days, is it?

Cheers,

Chuck
