Hi, I have Outlook 2003 with both office service packs installed and
the windows installer comes up whenever I check for mail. It says that
windows is preparing to install. How can I stop this and why is it doing it?

Thank you

Pike

Something most probably needs to be installed/configured for outllook. Maybe
a new addin installed or something.
Does it ask for a CD or anything? If so normally letting it do what it wants
do once.. normally does the trick.

I had something like that recently with MS Excel when trying to open a
simple xls file.

I think it's the way it was installed. I remember it asks you if you
wan't to keep the set up files. If you check this box, it keeps
everything locally, so you should't have to keep inserting the CD.

No, Dino, it doesn't ask for a CD. The pop-up window simply says, "preparing
to install..." and the cancel button is available. It flicks in and out when
each email is delivered and only closes when I close the outbox.

Thanks to all who reply offering advice.
