problem with SP 2...Please help!

tried to install service pack 2 for xp which failed. When i rebooted i could
not get into windows and got a blue screen that said:
Stop C0000135 (unable to locate component) application failed to start
because winsrv was not found. Reinstalling application may fix the problem.

Tried to start with the CD and use recovery console but when I typed at the
command prompt of F:\Windows the following (as instructed):

F:\windows>cd $ntservicepackuninstall$\spuninst

I received the response "system cannot find the file or or directory
specified"

Any ideas

Thanks!

I used that article to try and fix the problem. Even in safe mode I went
right to the blue screen so I inserted the CD and tried to use recovery
console as the article suggested . It didn't work because of the message I
got below when i tried to uninstall using recovery console form the CD. Any
thoughts? Thanks.

Try to remove the SP2 by using the Recovery console then when there on the
desktop you need to scan for malware and viruses thoroughly.
Also for defective software may installed on this system.

How many drives do you have? C: drive is normally the one with the OS.
But since I don't know your setup, I ask. What is on C? D? E? F? Any
others?

Did you use this guide by any chance:

http://icrontic.com/articles/repair_windows_xp

Scroll down to "Getting to the Windows Recovery Console."

You said you "must have" configured your PC to boot from the CD drive.
Normally, this is best done by entering the BIOS:

http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm

Then make sure you change the boot order so that CD-ROM drive is first.

If you're still having problems, you might as well try a Repair Install:

http://www.windowsreinstall.com/winxphome/installxpcdrepair/indexfullpage.htm

Hopefully your data is all backed up. Chances are you won't lose it, but
the chance for data loss nonetheless exists. If it's not backed up, you
should pull it and "slave" it in a working PC:
