Problem with PXe SID image locking up

S

Stephen Bashford

Hi,

I've produced a stripped down image that I need to PXe Boot. It contains
the network driver and command shell.

I have sucessfully deployed this on partition 3 of my target hardware.
This went through FBA with no problem and it boots to my command shell. I
can run ipconfig and get a DHCP network address. This is just what I want.

I have then extracted the partition onto my development machine to create
the SDI file. The SDI file is then placed on my Boot Server.

The problem is that my target now PXe boots & downloads the image to the
ramdisk. When it gets to the end of this download the XP logo appears on
my target for a few seconds with the 'running status bar'. This then
freezes and leaves me no choice other than to power off.

Any suggestions how to debug this?

I have to say that I have a different target (similar but a different
motherboard/network) that I have repeat the same process and everything is
fine.

TIA

Stephen

The problem might be with dual booting the image. For PXE boot, I ran FBA
on hard drive as C drive since in a PXE boot the drive will be C.

Thanks but that is what I did.

I deployed my initial image onto the 3rd partition of my hard drive which
was then marked as active. This ran through FBA successfully. I then
created the SDI file from this image.

Stephen
