Problem with Mouse properties in Control Panel.

T

Tenga

When I try to access Mouse Properties in the Control Panel I get the
following message:-

An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\windows\system32\shell32.dll,
control_RunDLL "C:\windows\system32\main.cpl,mouse"

I have done an "sfc /scannow" twice but to no effect.

I would google for a solution but I just do not know how to phrase the
question in order to get a meaningful response.

I would appreciate guidance on how to fix this problem.

TIA

Try entering devmgmt.msc in the start=> run box.

In the Device Manager, open "Mice and other pointing devices", where your
mouse should be listed.

Right click onthe entry and click Uninstall on the menu that comes up.

Then restart the PC.

Windows will reinstall the mouse.

If it is just the standard Windows driver, identify the mouse's manufacturer
and visit its site for the latest driver file for that model and install it.

Thanks for the suggestion Eric

Sadly no change in the fault condition.

What happens if you...

Start | Run | Type: main.cpl | Click OK |

Does Mouse Properties open?
