Problem with LiveUpdate

LiveUpdate won't install Symantec Security Software Update in Norton
Internet Security 2005 ( 3 in 1).

So that we don't cover the same ground, what was the response from
Symantec tech support?

"(3 in 1)". Is that supposed to mean something? If it means that there are
3 updates found, just pick one and do that one, then do the next one, and so
on. LiveUpdate has been known to screw up when more than one update is
performed at a time (apparently they don't coordinate their developers to
determine dependencies).
 
What is the actual message you recieve. It keeps logs under
%AllUsersProfile%\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate. There is a
file called log.liveupdate that will show the error. You can also
uninstall LiveUpdate seperately from Add/Remove programs and install
their latest version by running
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/liveupdate/2.7/lusetup.exe
