Problem with Japanese Keyboard

Hi All,

I have a Japanese Keyboard (ELECOM make, Ps/2 keyboard), I am working on the
language localization for which I have added MUI for Japanese Language (XPe
SP2). I have also added support for Japanese Keyboard and International
control panel (I haven’t got the appropriate driver in Target Designer for
this make keyboard).
I am able to switch between the English and Japanese languages but when ever
I try to type some thing on notepad, I don’t see the Japanese characters on
screen. From one of the Microsoft link I came to know that “When a user works
in the command console on a Japanese XP Embedded runtime, an input method
editor (IME) is not available.â€
There is a quick fix (Q317618.exe) which can resolve this issue; there are
two sld files and component repository with this quick fix.
I am currently working with XPe SP2 FP2007 with MUI language pack SP2
installed. I haven’t added these components to my database yet.
I want to know whether by adding these components, my problem will be fixed
or XPe SP2 MUI already covers this problem (cause I don’t want to disturb the
Japanese MUI component).
Anyone can guide me on how can I see Japanese texts on notepad.

Regards
Roshan.

Hello Chen,

Thanks for your reply; I have included all the Microsoft IME Japanese
components available with Windows XP SP2 FP2007. As I mentioned earlier, I
haven’t got the driver support for the keyboard that we are having, I have
installed the other available driver by navigating to control Panel- Keyboard
properties-install drivers.
Now the keyboard is functional and I am able to see Japanese characters on
Notepad.

Thanks & Regards
Roshan.
