Multiple Language Support

On my XPe target device, I'd like to have the language bar displayed with
several preconfigured Input Language/Keyboard layouts to choose from. This
will make it easy for the user to switch languages. For some reason when I
try adding additional languages it always says it cannot load the keyboard
layout.

I've done the following:
1) Studio tools - Installed all language packs and updates including FP2007,
UR1.0, and December 2007 monthly cumulative.
2) Added the particular language support component, along with others like
..NET 2.0 MUI, IE MUI, MUI Resource, TS Client MUI, App Help MUI, Help Engine
MUI, Search Assistant MUI, and Shell MUI (for each language I want
supported).
3) Under XX Language Support-Settings, I click the button "Select All" under
Fonts, Code pages conversion tables, and Keyboard layouts so all are
checked. This forces adding components "Keyboard: French", etc. I also
ensure I check the boxes for "Support all system locales for French" and
"Include muntilanguage user interface resources".
4) Run Dependency Check and build the image without errors.
5) Boot the image after FBA. Go to Control Panel-Regional and Language
Options- Languages. I change the "Language ised in menus and dialogs".
After logging off then on, I can see the iput language has changed.
6) Try creating Input Language/Keyboard Layout pair for language bar. Go to
Control Panel-Regional and Language Options-Languages-Details-Add-Input
French (France) and French keyboard layout. After clicking OK-OK it says
"Windows could not properly load the French(France) keyboard layout."

Not sure why it won't load the keyboard layouts. I've verified the
corresponding DLL file is in place on the target device (ie KBDFR.DLL). Any
ideas?

Regards,
John

Hi KM,

Thanks for the tip, this worked great! I'm surprised there wasn;t a
dependency somewhere.....

Can I make the "language used in menus and dialogues" change when I change
languages using the Language Bar (it's currently not doing this)? If not,
what good does it do to change the language in the language bar?

Regards,
John
