Problem With Japanese Fonts

Matt

Hello,

I am using Windows XP with the latest Service Pack, and
all my software and drivers are up to date.

When I use the Microsoft Japanese IME to enter Japanese
text, it works fine. However, when I recieve emails in
Japanese, only about 60% displays correctly. The rest of
the message is a garbled mixture of random characters. The
same random characters appear in every Japanese email I
get, but only in one or two places of the email. I'm
pretty sure this is a problem with the font, not the email
service.

Does anyone know anything about this problem, or any steps
I might take to fix it?

Thank you

Probably nothing you can do about it since the sender is the one
controlling the encoding not you. The use of Asian IMEs is not
perfect. I can access some Asian web pages and see them perfectly in
their original Japanese, Korean, or Chinese while others are a mixture
of good characters and garbled ones.

It's not a matter of fonts. The only way to guaranty 100% readability
is to use a Japanese version of XP that includes the Japanese
equivalent of OE.
