Problem with Internet Explorer

I used to be able to just type a name or a term in the
address bar and get a host of website options. Now when
I do that, I just get the page that reads page can not be
displayed. How do I fix this?

run a spyware scanner

Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and scroll to Search from the address bar.
Select your choice.
