Problem with DLA (Direct Access) and SP?

tfswctrl.exe seems to be a component of HP's DLA packet writing program
and is shut down by XP when a recordable CD is inserted with message

"Direct Access Component has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience."

If I run it again by double clicking tfswctrl.exe then it is again shut
down on inserting a recordable CD.

Is it needed for DLA to function correctly?

Why does SP2 shut it down? (Or is that just a big co-incidence?)

Anyone found info yet on this (I guess it will be a while...)

Thanks,

Pat.

Apparently the DLA version you're using from HP is one that is not
compatible with SP2. I suggest you contact HP to see if they have an
updated version. But to be honest, unless you use packet writing to
create CDs, I would just remove DLA. You can create CDs without
formatting them or ever use packet writing.

It is an essential part of DLA. I don't know how up to date the DLA
version at HP is now; but it might pay to see if you can get an
update/upgrade at www.sonic.com who are the company now selling the
package. Their version 4.52 (current) works fine here with SP2

Thanks Alex!
Knowing that someone has it working is a help. I have tried V1.3 and
V3.5 and am hoping that HP who originally provided the program will
solve the problem - possibly I am too hasty in blaming SP2!
