Problem with Deleted Item Recovery in Outlook 2003 Cached mode

Hello

I am running Outlook 2003 against a server running
Exchange 2000. Outlook is running in cached mode. I am
having a problem with the 'Recover Deleted Items' tool in
Outlook. I can initially see the list of items to recover,
once they are selected and I choose to recover them they
disappear from the list, however they do not appear to sync
back into the deleted items folder in Outlook.
When I turn off cached mode the messages appear. This is
happening on every Outlook client in the building; it is
reproducible and happens with 100% consistency.
Can anyone offer some advice regarding this problem.

It may take a few minutes for the item(s) to show up in the cached folder.
(It is this way under Exchange 5.5 and 2003.) Have you waited longer than
this and the items never show?

I have waited several days at a time.
It is a bug, I have read threads as far back as march relating to it,
Does anyone have a fix or workaround yet? I don't want to have to
disable cached mode every time a user wants to recover an e-mail.
Someone from Microsoft please look into this, its been 8 months since
you have known about this.

FWIW, I can't duplicate this problem. Therefore it might be isolated to how
the product is installed and/or what 3rd party products you have integrated
with Outlook. Can you detail out how to duplicate this issue on a
consistent basis?

Hi,
Thanks for the response.
Install Windows 2000 server SP4
Install Exchange 2000 + KB829436 Hotfix.
on Client
Windows XP pro + SP1
Office 2003 + SP1
Turn on cached mode
Enable recovery of deleted items.

Perhaps it has to do with group policy ?
Is there a way to generate a report containing all of the settings,
policy, etc on the server?

I'm going to run this by the Exchange MVPs to see if the description rings
any bells.

Thanks, also under the 'deleted items' folder properties, on the sync
tab it says "Last synchronized on: Never" even though the folder is
set for syncing just like every other folder.

I restore a few items, they dont show up.
I uncheck cached mode, restart outlook, they are now in my deleted items folder.
However the folder properties still says "Last Synchronized : Never".
I turn cached mode back on, restart outlook, they are gone.
