Problem with CD\RW speed detection

M

marjay

I have a Lite-On 40X12X24 CD-RW and when I write to CD-Rs it writes at
40X... however, when I try to write to a CD-RW, it only allows me to
write at 2X even though the CD-RWs are 4X or 8X rated!!

What do I need to do to change the max speed?

BTW, this happens in either Nero, Roxio or Alcohol, and I have very
recent updates to all

thanks

Try looking for a firmware update for the drive from the Lite-On website

I had a similar problem with my MSI CD burner not burning CD-Rs at their maximum speed. I found a firmware update on the MSI website which stated "improves compatability with some high-speed media". Sure enough, after applying the update, I could now burn the same CD-Rs at their maximum speed

Make sure you read the instructions carefully about how to flash the drive's firmware.
