Problem with Brother MFC

I have a Brother MFC 210C printer. I've had it for a long time and has
worked really well up until a couple of days ago. The printer had a
paper jam. It took a few attempts to get the paper jam out. I thought I
did it the right way but now having second thoughts..

The paper jam was corrected however the printer is still telling me
they're is still a paper jam present. There is no paper in there. Did I
mess up a sensor in the maybe the way I took the paper out. The printer
makes a straining noise when turned on now when it goes into
operational mode...

I'm not really familiar with Brother printers, but yes, it is possible a
sensor get mispositioned, but it is also possible it is a timing issue
in getting the paper to the sensor in the correct time (can be caused by
slippage of the paper transport system). Also, look for small bits of
dust, staples, paper clips, etc. It doesn't take much to create a paper
jam condition.
