problem while installing xp on compaq

As soon the dos mode file copying starts in xp installation it gives
blue screen error telling about some unidentified hardware, or shadow
copy of bios and video as far hardware is concerned i have
disconnected all hardware and suspect it should be the bios setting
some where which i should change to put off shadow copy but as i go to
bios options not shadow copy setting is available can u please tell me
the solution to this problem, may be i will be requiring any bios
upgrade or what ever u suggest

check to see if you have bios protected boot sector and if so disabled.
