Please more help with following Error Msg

O

oops

I received this reply from Andrew E. but it is not step by step
enough for my limited knowledge of computers..... I don't know how to
disable BIOS caching or shadowing either, as it says to do. And I
still can't keep the program QuickTime from starting everytime I start
my computer. Thanks for any additional help I can get!
DRIVER_IRQL,is usually a hardware related issue, open event viewer & get
specific info when this took place,or go to run,type:Msinfo32 Chk >the
hardware
tree,problem devices..As for programs starting,go to run,type:services.msc
In msc, double click on the service, set to manual or disable..>
"I am not computer savvy, but this is what it says mostly:

Make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. Ask for
any windows updates you might need.
If problem continues disable or remove any newly installed hardware or
software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If
you need to use safe modeto remove ot disable components, restart
computer, press F8 to select Advanced Start up options and then select
safe mode.

You need to see the Preference/program settings to Disable it from startingup
or you can take off from the startup list by doing this:
Open windows Explorer and locate this Dir:
C:\Document and Settings\<User name>\Programs\Startup = locate the
QuickTime program Icon and Delete it, this will not remove/uninstall the
program itself but it will prevent it from starting up !.
You can use this tool Autoruns.exe from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/SystemInformation/Autoruns.mspx
or you can use the Msconfig command from the run command line and then on
the System Configuration window click on startup Tab and uncheck the Box for
QuickTime then Reboot.
HTH.
