Problem trying to Reinstalling XP ,,,,,maybe hardware problems??

I have a strange problem that is even stumping my tect guy!
Had my computer custom built a year an a half ago. Did LOTS of research
to make sure everything worked together.
This computer was the most stable and fun computer I have ever had! All
games and programs worked....never a problem.
NOW........after 1 year the motherboard went out..had it tested - bad!
So! RMAed it...got replacement (same model etc) That one lasted 6
months..same thing. RMAed that one..got another sent ..same model etc! RMAed
again!!
Now here I an on my third motherboard from the same company.. MSI.. same
motherboard as the others...but this one has been a nightmare to get the
computer back together and running. Had done nothing new or different before
problems named below!
Now the stumper..the computer has all the same hardware as it had from
the day it was built and he had not one problem getting it up and running on
replacing the 2nd motherboard. But now with this 3rd motherboard he has all
this trouble. No problems before hand showed that on any of the replaced
motherboards, there was any problems coming up, just BOOM, no worky!!
After many hours he has finally got it to load WINXP on this 3rd board.
But it didn't like
the harddrive this time...He had wiped the harddrive clean on this reinstall
where as on the last time he just had backed it up, but left everything else
alone. He did the wipe because winXP would not install at all and thought a
clean system would help. After he found WinXP not liking my regular wiped
harddrive he changed out hard drives but it didn't want to load the drivers
on this new one!!! He somehow finially got it to run the the reinstall again
but now it will only go to the last 3 minutes or so and stalls. He left it
for awhile HOPING it would finish but it had just locked up! He is sure it's
a hardware problem but "why now" and what does the last few minutes of the
XP install check for or need to load thats causing the stall???

MY Spec's...................all drivers were up to
date!

This system has worked perfectly for the first year on the
first
motherboard and perfectly for 6 months on the 2nd motherboard. I have found
NO bad reports on this model and brand of motherboard. Has me wondering if
something other that this board was the starting of the problems. The power
supply is probably a cheap one since it was the one that came with the case.
Just wondering if the power supply could be causing most of my
motherboard problems. I could see where it could cause voltage problems and
distroy senstive hardware or atleast make it start causing problems. Read
that the power supply can be the last thing people think about when things
go wrong!?!? Especially cheap ones!

Sorry for the long post! Just I want my computer fixed! My tect has
many other things to work on and he is trying to keep the cost of this mess
down....so I thought if I could try to do some research myself to speed
things along!!!!
Thanks again for ANY HELP!

Youre probably correct...The power supply, those that come with the case
should get upgraded at the time of purchase thru the dealer if they offer
that
option, most do.Either way,a quality pwr supply is always worth the
investment..
