Problem Switching Identities

I am running OE6 and WinXP Home. Sometimes, but not
always, when I try to switch identities, OE6 closes and
will not re-open unless I reboot. What causes this, and
how do I fix it?

Update Note: I keep OE6 and Windows updated, so that's not my problem.
