This problem is most likely more of the cd-r then being the OS fault, but I m
not sure where else to go, so any way, I have some backed up files on a
Imation cd-r today I tried to, access the data, and so I clicked on the cd
drive and noticed it said 0 free space, and 0 total size, this struck me as
odd, because if were black it would say the free space and if it had data on
it which I know it does it would say the amount used. So I checked for
scratches nothing but some scuffs which is not a problem, so then I held it
up to the light, and noticed I was able to see threw the cd really clearly,
so I grabbed another cd-r same type but that had mp3's on it and it was not
as see threw, so I m thinking maybe the cd that I backed up my data on was
faulty, is there anything I can do to recover the data? also these disc were
burned I think about 9 months ago so there not even that old.
Thanks

Have you installed SP2? If so look at the following:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;883523

This is a problem with SP2. "imap" from SP2 has a fault in it. No
recording to a new CD-R or CD-RW because it is shown as full. Microsoft is
aware of the problem.

My problem exactly, devildog. Anyone know of any workarounds for this "full"
CD issue...or know when the hotfix will be available? Thanks.

After trying everything I stumbled on this, I don't know why, but its
working for me. In services - change the default setting of IMAPI CD Burning
Com Device from DEFAULT MANUAL to AUTOMATIC re-boot and see what happens?
Regards
