CD-R not recognized

See if this helps:
Right click your CD drive in my computer > Properties > Recording tab > Tick
the checkbox "Enable recording ...."

I have replaced by failed Phillips CD Burner with a SONY DVD RW-Q120A. The
device is recognized in the Device magager with no warning sign. It is able
to read a music CD and presumably a data CD as well. However, when I tried to
burn on a blank CD-R it keeps telling to insert a new CD. The same CD-R is
not recognized on my CD/DVD Drive either. However, the same CD-R is tested OK
on a different (laptop) computer. Please help.

Thanks for your suggestion! It helped. I realized that I had an old version
of Nero. After installing Nero 6.0 it worked OK. Now I can burn a CD with XP
explorer or with Nero. Not sure if the DVD burnig is working yet. Thanks
again!
