Can't write to CD-R

In the past I have saved documents to CD-R but yesterday I got a message
"Windows encountered a problem when trying tocopy this file. What do you
want Windows to do? Retry/Cancel"
I have successfully copied the file and saved it on the hard drive so it
seems to be a problem with the CD drive. Anyone got any ideas, please?
Coincidentally (or maybe not) the right click on my wireless mouse has also
ceased to function!
Any help greatly appreciated.

Reinstall the CD device driver with device manager.
Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the device, Action menu,
"Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device drivers again
automatically.

Thanks for that. I will have a go but perhaps you could clarify for a
simpleton! Does this advice apply to both the CD drive and the mouse? And
how do I re-install the drivers - is that automatic?
Sorry to be thick!

Yes, Windows uses a "PlugNPlay" feature to install any needed device drivers.
Yes, the mouse might profit from the same fix. Remove the mouse driver too.
It's possible you own special drivers on CD or whatever, but you can use the
"Update driver" button in device manager in that event.
Replacing the drivers might not help, but it has a good chance.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have made any
difference! Time to call in the techies, I think.
Thanks anyway.
