Problem opening IE 6

When I try to open IE 6 I get a window saying "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and must close"
Help! Does anyone know how to fix this? I tried to uninstall IE 6 and reinstall but I couldn't figure out how to uninstall it.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
