I am have encountered problems trying to map a drive letter from a WinXP Pro
(SP1) machine to an old PC running Windows 95.
I would like to know if there is anything special required to map the drive
letter.
Here's what I know about the scenario andwhat I have done:
I have ensured that the directory on the Win95 box is, in fact, shared with
full control (or at least no restrictions).
I have specified the same workgroup name for both computers.
I can ping each box from the other box successfully by using the IP address.
The network is a simple peer network (no DC and no DNS, Wins, nor host
file - thus no attempt to map via computer name)
I have attempted to map via the IP address (something like
\\192.168.0.2\ShareName
I receive an error message stating {The network path \\192.168.0.2\ShareName
could not be found}.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
