Hello!
I'm receiving an error message while installing Windows XP service pack
2. The message is "Setup could not verify the integrity of the file
Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on this
computer"... I'm pretty much sure that my installation package is not
corrupted.
Please help me in this purpose...

TIA

While you can download SP2, it is still in Beta form. Not only would I wait
until it is approved and available in Windows Update, I plan on waiting a
week or two after that to see if anyone is having major problems.

Try and see if this works:

Quoted from Microsoft:
The pre-release versions of Windows XP SP2 and Windows Update are for
testing purposes only!
Please do not depend on the pre-release versions of Windows Update to
keep your computer secure and up to date. If you are not a Windows XP
SP2 Beta program participant, you can keep your computer secure and up
to date by visiting the http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com site. If
you are part of the Windows XP SP2 Beta program, please take extra
care regarding computer security as you will not be able to go back to
the Windows Update V4 site.

The message says that the cryptographic service is not running. And everyone
knows that the SP2 full has been released ages ago.

SYMPTOMS
When you install Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may receive the
following error message:

Service Pack 1 Setup could not verify the integrity of the file. Make sure
the Cryptographic service is running on this computer
CAUSE
This issue occurs because either Cryptographic Services is set to Disabled
for Startup type or there is log file or database corruption in the
%Systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 folder.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, set Cryptographic Services to Automatic for Startup
type. If this does not resolve the issue, stop Cryptographic Services, and
then rename the %Systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 folder. To do so, follow
these steps:
Start the Administrative Tools utility in Control Panel.
Double-click Services.
Right-click Cryptographic Services, and then click Properties.
Click Automatic for Startup type, and then click Start.
Install Windows XP SP1 again. If the problem persists, go to Step 6.
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following commands, and then press ENTER
after each line:
net stop cryptsvc

ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 oldcatroot2

Type exit to close the command prompt, and then install Windows XP SP1
again.

Last Friday - RC1 of Windows XP SP2 - released to the public.
And that's ages ago? heh

"ages ago"?
You mean last week?
Because that is when RC1 for SP2 was released.
Beta was out a while ago.
The release version is not expected for a few more months.

Rename the folder windows\system32\catroot2 and reboot. That will
generate a new, clean folder, and you can then delete the renamed one.

Please note that SP2 is a Beta and time limited. The advice is not to
use it on a production machine. When the final comes out you will need
to remove it before installing that - I strongly advise making an image
type backup to revert to unless you are installing to a system you can
scrub out without loss
