Problem installing Shockwave on Vista 64, but using 32 bit IE

I'm trying to install Shockwave on Vista 64 Ultimate, and I'm not using the
64 bit IE. But I keep getting this same error message. I tried to uninstall
FlashPlayer and then reinstall Shockwave first, but even though I uninstalled
Flashplayer using uninstall from Programs and Features, it is still working.
This is the message that I get when trying to install Shockwave.

"Could not load the DLL library
C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Shockwave10\gi.dll. The application has failed
to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see
the application event log for more detail."

Because of what you wrote, I have been able to completely uninstall Flash
using the Adobe Flash Removal Tool. However, that doesn't change the fact
that I keep getting the same error message for Shockwave when I try to
install it.

At this point I would use Smarty Uninstaller to remove all traces of
Shockwave so you can do a clean install.

Yeah, well, I re-installed Flash and tried that too and it ran all night and
stayed in Phase 1 searching the registry. In the morning it was still
running and still in the same place. I stopped the search.

I have now installed Vista 64 Ult. 2x's since I spoke to you last. Both
times, the first thing that I installed besides Windows Updates was
Shockwave. And I STILL GET THE ERROR MESSAGE.
