Problem installing printer

I have a xeroxN17 printer and when I go to install it on
a winXP machine, it goes through the motions but no
printer shows up in the printers folder. If I use
the "add a printer" wizzard. it installs, but prints
garbage. HELP

First of all, let's completely uninstall whatever might have gotten
installed:

Then reinstall, with the software first, before connecting the printer. Now
how is it printing?
