Good day to you all.

Got a couple of odd problems on my computer. I cannot download the Windows
Updates - it stops at the Preparing to download window after clicking the
INSTALL NOW button. I've tried all the suggestion in other MS forums such
as re-registering the four OCX and DLL files, re-installed MDAC and running
the CWSHREDDER tool. I've even tried re-installing Internet Explorer and
resetting all IE settings back to default - nothing fixing problem. Done a
disk clearout of file in any temporary folders and also used System Mechanic
to see if anything lurking in Reg that shouldn't be theree but all seems
fine.

Issue coincide with inability to open additional IE windows (hence why I did
this from OE and not IE!). Can load single pages in fine but if you click
on a link that opens up something in another window, you just get a blank
white box open up. On the taskbar, the IE logo appears on the new window
but no headings or anything else.

Am running WinXP Home SP1al. PC is an AMD Duron 800 with 256mb RAM and just
basic onboard bits and bobs on mobo.

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks

Method 1 in the second section solves both problems. Everything now nice and up-to-date (well, as of last night anyway, no doubt something new will emerge within days!)

Thanks for this
Ken
