What changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?
Add any software? Change any firewall settings?

I don't think you quite get the whole idea of the DMZ. DMZ stands for
"DeMilitarized Zone" and means a "no man's land" area. Basically, you
have a router and your computers behind that router are hidden from the
outside world (Internet) because the router is the only entity with a
public IP address. When you put one of the computers into a DMZ for
gaming purposes, you are taking that machine out from behind the safety
of the router. I don't know what brand router you are using, but here
is a link to information from Linksys:

http://www.linksys.com/tech_helper/advanced.html

If you don't have a Linksys router, go to the router mftr.'s website or
read its manual about the DMZ feature.

If by "do the other computers have to be on" you mean do your other home
computers need to be on for the advanced networking features of the
router to work, the answer is of course not. One of the advantages of
using a router as the gateway is that you don't need to set one of the
other computers as a gateway as you do with ICS. When doing ICS, of
course the gateway computer has to be on for the others to be able to
access the Internet.

I have an SMC Barricade SMC7004ABR router.

I was looking at the control interface or therrouter and it has an "virual
server (VS)" and "special applications (SA)" menu. The "SA" menu requires a
"trigger" port. I have no idea what that is. The VS requires you to put in
your ip address. Do i put in my IP or the gateway IP?

Thanks for all your help

I'm sorry, but since I don't have that piece of equipment, I can't look
at its manual. I'm sure it came with one, but if you can't find yours,
here is a link to where you can download the one for your router:

yes i already got the manual. I was just wondering which one will open the
ports. There is nothing labeled "port forwarding".
