Hello everyone,
I have recently run across a problem that has me
completely stumpped. My computer will no longer download
any files from the net, however I can still surf. So far I
have tried all the usual fixes that I can think of,
disabeling the firewall, resetting the web settings to
default, turning off the virus protection, and even doing a
complete re-partition and re-format with a clean install
of XP PRO 5.1.2600 all to no avail. If anyone knows what
the problem might be, I would certianly be most
appreciative if they would clue me in. You can either post
here or E-mail, here would be preferable though as I might
not be able to D/L my mail.

FYI. I'm running AMD K6-2 -500
Two Hdd
512 MEG SDram
SOHO 10-100 NIC
DSL Connection

Thanks all,
BUD

Hi Bud,
See if your download option is enabled,Control
Panel>internet Options>security>Internet then choose
custom level, here you will find an option to enable or
disable downloads. I hope this helps (If you configured
local internet,Trusted and Restricted sites.)check the
setting there as well

Thanks for the advice, I hadn't thought to look at the
restricted sites. Sure enough the downloads were disabled
in the restricted sites, so I'll see if that fixes the
problem. I just assumed since it was a clean install that
I would be setup for the D/L's to work. Like I said I have
never run into a problem like this before. Wish me luck,
and once again thank-you for the help.
