Problem downloading/saving files from browser

My wife is running Windows XP with IE ^ and SP2 although part of the problem
start prior to SP2.

She was tryign to download a file which she used to do by clicking on the
file like and a dialog would appear asking to eithe open or save the file.
Now when she clicks on the link it seems to be preset to Open the file now
which due to a quirk in either XP or IE even though there is a file
association for the file type, whne it opens in the application it appears to
be blank. That problem doesn't happen if you first save the file.

How can I reset IE to prompt when I try and download the file type this is
currently happening with .cwr and zip The zip files will open and displkay
the archive, butthe cwr files appear to be empty if you try to open without
saving the file.

Hi,
I'm not sure that this is the entire solution, but:
Control Panel> Folder Options> File Types> "Zip"> Advanced> Put a check by
"Confirm open after download."

Repeat for other file types which don't prompt for open/save.

Post back if this isn't the full solution.
