Problem Deleting Unwanted File

I've got a rogue, unassociated, file that has appeared (I think, after my
son used my PC a few nights ago) on my desktop that cannot be deleted - not
matter how I try.

It's a zero byte file named "RoM_199505_009_Jeanie_Buss_07."

Whenever I try to delete it I get the following message in a grey box.

"Error Deleting File or Folder"
Big Red 'X'; Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk.

Anyone got any suggestions how to get rid of it - it can't be moved to
another folder either.

You might consider the possibility that the computer is infected.

Can you delete the file in Safe Mode?

It seems not. AVG Anti Virus, Ad Aware and Windows Defender all seem to
think it's (the system) clean.

No.

I might do a clean re-install any way. I've also lost my basic search
facility after installing and, soon after, uninstalling Windows Desktop
Search (I didn't like it as it kept soaking up memory when I was doing other
things and it didn't like being switch off for too long.)

Thanks anyway.
