Problem connecting to Internet via IE 6 - Broadband connection ok

I have managed to set up BT Broadband access and BT have checked that the
connection is ok. However when I open up IE 6 and try to go to any website,
the website does not appear, a message appears saying cannot connect to
'www.bbc.co.uk' for example. And the addres bar of the IE browser is
populated with res://mshp.dll/url.error.html#

Any ideas would be appreciated!
