Error when trying to connect to Internet via IE 6

I have managed to set up BT Broadband access and BT have checked that the
connection is ok. However when I open up IE 6 and try to go to any website,
the website does not appear, a message appears saying cannot connect to
'www.bbc.co.uk' for example. And the addres bar of the IE browser is
populated with res://mshp.dll/url.error.html#

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Open a command prompt and type in

ipconfig /all <enter>

Try to ping:
Default gateway IP - success?
DNS server IP - success?
www.yahoo.com - success?
