Hi,
I know next to nothing about access, I can create a database, build
tables, save and thats about it!
I've written a small application that reads data out of an access
database to populate my windows forms controls and allows other
operations to be performed on the data on the three tables in the .mdb
The access database is saved as access 2003 type.
I needed to protect the .mdb so under 'database tools' I chose to 'set
the database password'.
Now when I try to open the .mdb in access I'm prompted for a password,
I enter it and I get the data -great!
However when I try to open the .mdb from my application, which
supports sending the password, I get a message saying "Test connection
failed because of an error initialising provider. Cannot start your
application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened
exclusively by another user.'
There is a file called security.mdw co-located with the .mdb I have a
horrible feeling that I might have blind clicked my way through the
users&permissions wizard a while back and screwed something up.
Is there any way to reset access? I can stand to lose everything and
I'm close to uninstalling and reinstalling access but hoping there
might be a simpler way?
Thanks,
Stuart
