Problem closing the IE6 browser

Hi,
I recently started to have this problem where i cannot
close my IE6 browser(i have WinXP operating system) after
i get connected to the net. If i try closing it before the
whole page is loaded or a blank page is loaded it works
fine. But when i try to close it after the page is loaded
it does not work. Also the Del key does not work and also
a lot of other controls like Ctrl-C, Ctrl-A,.... Infact
most of the File/Edit options.
So the only thing i am left with is kill the process from
the Task bar.

Please advice or mail me at (e-mail address removed).
Regards
Anup

I actually have this same problem. After exlporer is
opened i cannot close the window and the cpu usage goes
trough the roof. Only way to close the window is to kill
the IEXPLORER.EXE process. I beleive it started AFTER I
ran spybot and adaware and cleaned up my system.

Please advise by reply or email

I searched around a bit and found this:

"If your internet explorer browser windows won't close
correctly then try this. Delete the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr
entVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects

that should solve this problem it worked for me."
-whizkid

It actually worked for me too. No problems closing
windows and no more bloated cpu usage.

First eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
