Problem browsing with IE

M

Mark Hope

I am having problems with IE version 6.0.2800.1106.
Everytime I want to open a new window, it cancels it and
opens the window in the existing window!! This is making
life a nightmare for negotiating web pages especially if
you browse away from a site as this does not allow you to
go "back" to the page you have left.

I have been unable to "restore" IE to its original
version I have also tried system restore as well but this
does not work either. I have thought I might have been
able to reinstall it from the website, but it won't as my
current version is lower than the one on my machine. HELP!

I'm having a similar problem. I can't access anything
using IE 6.0. It always defaults to my C: drive and gives
me a DNS Error. I have checked all the network and
connection settings. They are fine. It is not my network
card since I can connect using Netscape 7.1 and am able to
check my email through Outlook (I do not get web-based
graphics though, and can't connect to embedded URLs because
Outlook defaults to IE). What am I missing in my checks?
Please help.

Mark,
From IE> Tools> Options> Advanced> Browsing> uncheck "Reuse windows for
launching shortcuts."
And... if you have a program running which is blocking pop-up windows (ads)
you may have to disable it. Yahoo companion and google toolbar have this
feature.
With some programs of this type, using Ctrl+click or Shift+click will allow
a new window.
