IE 6.0 hangs when a new window or pop-up window opens

my IE version is Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106 Windows 2000 ver 5.0

IE totally hangs when a new window or pop-up window opens and I continue to
browse or navigate. I have checked all online support resources and can not
find a fix or solution for this problem.

Any suggestions offered would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi BridgetMW,

I just had the same issue on my Windows 98 SE system IE 6.0.2800.1106IC.
In the end, unchecking Enable third-party browser extensions, under Tools |
Internet Options | Advanced ,
allowed a new browser window to open. Hope this helps....

Hi Dan,
You should investigate further to find the guilty BHO, toolbar, etc. Some
browser extensions are useful (such as the Adobe Reader plugin.)

Try BHODemon from http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3550.html to disable
selected BHOs.

Running Ad-aware and Spybot might be a good idea.

Hi,
As Dan advised, this is probably being caused by a BHO, toolbar or another
program.

Start with BHODemon http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3550.html

Then, disable (for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers,
security, toolbars and other add-ons for IE, anti-virus, etc. Take a look at
any program that might be interfering with IE. You may have to reconfigure,
reinstall, or not reinstall, a program.

This might be a malware problem. Download, update and run Ad-aware and
Spybot.
