When I try to boot from a bootalbe floppy disk to reinstall windows XP I get
this error. Disk I/0 error replace the disk and press any key. I wrote
before in this newgroup that I can not delete the current partition, the
setup will not let me do it using the XP Disk

What kind of bootable floppy disk are you using? You can use a simple
Win98 EBD or Win98 boot disk and run FDisk and Format from it. Run
FDisk and delete the partition. Be sure to go into your CMOS setup
menu and set your machine to boot from the floppy disk first otherwise
you will be unable to boot from it.

If you have a retail or OEM XP CD, it should be bootable. You boot
with the CD and use it to delete and create new partitions.

I think you are misinterpreting what you see when you try to delete it.
After booting the CD, and taking Setup Windows, then replying F8 to the
license, take New Install. When it presents the list of partitions, hit
ESC. Then highlight the one you want to replace and D. It will come up
with a screen saying that there is a set of system files there - that is
the old system that you want to get rid of Over-ride the objection,
hitting D, then hit L at the next screen to confirm. You can then use C
to create a new RAW partition to be formatted after accepting it as the
one to use
