Problem after uninstall Secondary IDE Channel

After uninstalling secondary IDE channel under IDE ATA/ATAPI
Controller in Device Manager, I get an error under Found New Hardware
Wizard after reboot.
"Cannot Install this Hardware. There was a problem installing this
hardware-hdc
An error occur during the installation of the device
Driver is not intended for this platform"

Inplace of Secondary IDE channel, there is an icon of a Unknown
Device. No joy even uninstall unknown device and reboot again. Same
error message again.
How can I get rid of the Unknow Device and get back the Secondary
Channel?
Using WinXP Pro, 2 HD connected to Primary Channel,
1 CD-RW(master) & CDROM (slave) to secondary channel.
Reason for uninstalling secondary channel is to try to get UDMA mode
for CD-RW which was on PIO mode.
TIA

Helob, depending on your Motherboard and chipset, if it's Via then go
here www.viaarena.com and
download Busmaster drivers. If it's Intel then go to Intels website and
get their Busmaster drivers.

This sounds as if you have a motherboard that does not use the standard,
MSoft supplied drivers but some others that have to be installed, and
New Hardware is only finding the MSoft ones. Check in Device Manager ,
properties of the actual controller - in IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers,
above Primary channe;l) and see who the Manufacturer and Driver -
Provider is. It may be someone like VIA, in which case you need to run
the VIA 4 in 1 driver installation once more
