After installing aol 9.0, when I sign off windows, a
window pops up which states " The application failed to
initialize because the window is shutting down" Can you
help me get rid of that . Also the icons come on the
screen, like they do when the computer is first turned on.

Yep, remove AOHELL completely, smash the disc into nano-fragments and cancel
your subscription. If you install garbage-ware you have to expect problems.
As the problem was caused by their software you must call AOHELL for a
solution.

Ahhhh! Another friendly helpful attempt to solve an AOL users problem. Thanks
so much. I'm sure your mum is very proud of you.

Actually, the key is to NOT be a BETA tester for aol's new disks. ie use
the oldest version you can deal with.

I didn't realise AOHELL 9 was Beta - but then I don't really care - I've
never let it near my system and I never will. AOHELL is nothing more than a
'legal' trojan.

Hi, Margaret - uninstall AOL9 and use your older version if you had one and
want to stick with AOL. The other replies in here, while not terribly
friendly, make some valid points - AOL software doesn't tend to 'play nicely
with
the other kids'. I prefer to avoid it and use a regular old ISP for Internet
connectivity and mail.

Note - posting your valid e-mail address in a newsgroup post, or in your
news account settings, is a surefire way to get spam and SWEN and other
viruses sent to you....see http://www.mailmsg.com/SPAM_munging.htm for help
in the future, but note that now that your address is out there, there's not
much you can do other than changing your address.

In my opinion, any new aol cd is beta. Let it be for maybe 6 months
until they fix the bugs. ie if you want 9, get a new 9 cd 6 months
after it's initial release
