Hope you can help. I'm trying to install OEM XP Home on a
new computer. It is a do-it-yourself kit. A plain
vanilla cold install. I get through the format and
partition, files get automatially copied, and it goes to
re-boot. Heres's the problem. If I leave the XP CD in,
it goes right back to partition / format. If I take the
CD out, I get, "disk boot failure-insert system disk-press
enter." In bios, the boot order is cd-rom, C, A. I think
it is supposed to boot from C, and it won't. I wait 15
miutes for it to boot from C, but the error message
stays. Thanks for your help.

Thanks - what should I check the BIOS settings for? Sorry
for being a computer dummy.

What are you sorry about? We all were. Read the motherboard manual about
"Boot sector protection" or similar named setting.
