Privilege Level on Shortcuts Grayed Greyed Out

I created a shortcut to cmd.exe. I want to set it to run as Administrator
right when I click on it. So I look at the options only to find the
"Privelege Level" section greyed out. Why is that?

Hello,

This works fine for me. I created a shortcut to cmd.exe, right-click, click
properties, under the shortcut tab click Advanced, Check Run As
Administrator, click OK, click OK.

I follow you but the Check Run As Administrator box is greyed out. Where do
I backtrack to and what do I set?

Hi Colin,

Are you looking on the shortcut tab and clicking advanced? Or did you do
like I did at first and look at the grayed out section on the compatibility
tab?

Hello,

Are you clicking the Advanced button under the Shortcut tab? It sounds like
you are using the checkbox under the compatability tab.

The Run as administrator checkbox under the compatability tab will be greyed
out for any application that has a manifest.

I right click on the Run shortcut I sent to the desktop.

I get the Run Properties page and select the Shortcut tab.

On the Shortcut tab I click on the Advanced button in the lower right (next
to Change Icon).

I get the Advanced Properties page with two options. The Run in separate
memory space is checked, Run as Administrator is not, and all the text and
boxes are greyed out except the title line, "Choose the advanced...."

Same here, but if you create a shortcut to Cmd, it can be set to Run as
Administrator.

Hello,

I beleive you cannot enable "run as administrator" on the run shortcut
because it is not a shortcut to an .exe file. The run link appears to
communicate with the already-running explorer.exe and tell it to display the
run dialog box - traditional-style elevation is not possible in this
process.

Right. I sorted out what you guys were talking about and set up a cmd icon
in my QL area per your instructions. I was trying to do the same thing with
the run icon and confusing the heck out of myself.
