Starting a program as an administrator during login

W

Will Pittenger

I have a program that needs administrator privileges to start when I log
in. But Vista SP1 64-bit won't let it start until I tell it that the
program is OK. Is there a fix around this?

The program is RocketDock. Normally, RocketDock doesn't need it. But
if you want a SysStats docklet, you either run it with administrator
priveleges or it crashes.

Can someone help?

Hi Will, the only way I see that you can turn this off is if you
disabled UAC. Disabling UAC would be like going back to XP as your
entire logon session would be run with admin privileges. Would not
recommend this however as ideally you should use your admin rights
only at the point you really need them and as you need to guard
against all the malware out there. Suspect that this application
wasn't written with Vista and UAC in mind so check to see if there's
an update or an updated version or wait around for it.
