Printing woes - going crazy

PPT 2003, Printer HP (colour laserjet) 4600 or 4650 or 5550

I have boxes with coloured gradients where I've applied a transparency, but
they print as solid. How can I beat this? It's making me crazy.

Is it a problem with Powerpoint or HP?. Even if I create a pdf and then
print, I get the same results. This makes me suspect that the problem is
with PPT.

Thanks.

This is a common problem with PPT and HP printers. Mine does it, too.

You can try to update you HP print driver (directly from their website).
Most printers have updated drivers even before they hit the best buy
shelves, so the age of the printer does not matter.

While you are updating, it is always a good idea to check for Office and
Windows updates.

However, I no longer print the full slides or handouts that PowerPoint
normally generates. I print my handouts using HandOut Wizard (Shyam's
add-in) and SlideIntoWord (mine). Both of these do not have this
transparency problem.
