Printing problem Windows XP and HP G85

My brand new HP Pavilion with Windows XP home edition
will not communicate with my USB connected HP g85 printer.

When I connected the printer with the pc for the first
time, nothing happened (it's supposed to be a "plug and
play"?). Trying to print a word document failed. The g85
printer icon was not available.

After downloading and installing a g85 driver for XP from
HP's support, and selecting the g85 printer icon,
printing a word document still failed. Can anyone help
me - please?

Suggestion for your problem:
1. Un-install your new printer/driver
2. Un-plug and disconnect your printer
3. Re-install your printer/driver
4. Re-connect your printer (USB and power)
5. Follow printer wizard directions
