Printing on Roll paper with Canon S9000

R

Richard Chaney

Does anyone know how to overide the custom paper length of 23" in the
Canon s9000 device driver?

I need to print Ancestor documents from my Genealogy software that are
about 11" X 96". Under Costom, the length limit is 23" and under Banner
the width is limited to 8.5". Have to print too many to print on sheets
and tape.

Thanks for any help!

It's done this way because the paper mechanism doesn't have the grip to pull
that much weight reliably. Not much you can do about it.

Oh! My first reaction was to use banner, but then I realised that I've
never done wider than 8.5" - and there was I just about to order some
11" wide roll paper! :-(

Thanks, I'd better check first.

Mike

PS. I use Qimage for printing which seems to overcome some of the
printer limitations.

Only by using QImage and the Windows98 printer driver. With that
combination I can go to at least
88" long panoramas.

email me if you want the details - the address is valid "as is"

Hi!! Thanks to your help I am now doing long panoramas, but still on
8.5" roll.

Richard said that it doesn't do 11" wide rolls - have *you* managed to?

Hi Mike, long time no speak (as it were)

Yes, I have done wide prints using exactly the same method as for the
8½" ones - with QImage and the Win98 driver, setting (IIRC) A3 or A3+
and Banner mode.

I haven't done any off roll paper, simply because I haven't got either
any panos that I want that big, or a wall big enough ;-)
I did the test by taping single sheets together to "simulate" a length
cut off a roll, I think I went up to 66" or so long.

I figured that weight could be a problem and also possibly the ability
to feed anything that long streight could be a problem. I'm kind of a
Jack-of -all- trades and could probably handle both if I can fix the
Device driver limitations.

Thanks for your input.

Thanks Mike. I bought the 11" roll. :-((( Now I need to find a way
to use it. I need to look into Qimage. Does the printer feed long
doc's streight using Qimage?

Thanks for the input.

Hope this isn't a Dup. Doesn't look like my first reply didn't make
it.

I'm not familiar with Qimage. I'll have to check it out. Does the
printer feed long pages straight with Qimqge?

Thanks, Richard

(Did I tell you I did an 84" panorama but only 8.5" wide? - It was on
draft paper, I thought of the cost of the glossy print, and decided that
I didn't know what I would do!)

Yes, I think that is an important reminder to Richard. Make sure you the
paper to the length required *Don't* try to feed it from the roll, or
the end of print form feed will cause problems.

Thanks, dslr for your confirmation re 11" wide prints. That (taping
together) is how I will test them.

Looks OK if you se dslr's reply. He taught me how to do it!

I don't think Qimage comes into the feed. You just have to make sure
that the paper is adequately lined up with the printer. (Read the
printer's banner printing instructions carefully, they are reasonably
helpful.)
