printing in color

my printer will print a test page in colr, but it will
not print any of the color in a document. is there some
sort of box checked somewhere that is making my documents
print in black and white, or is this more likely a
problem with my printer (an hp photosmart 1000)?
 
Try looking in

control panel/printer and faxes/right click on the printer icon/printing preference

If you see something called Grayscale Printing, uncheck the box
